HOUSE OF MUSIC — LOBBY
PANEL
“Club Culture & Disability“
Where are people with disability now?
Challenges and perspectives
Entrance is free!
In recent years, we have increasingly been moved by the topic of inclusion: Why does club culture bring so few artists with disabilities to the stage - even though the electronic music scene places so much value on diversity? This year we want to prove that it is possible to curate a festival with an exciting program whilst bringing a large number of artists with disabilities to the foreground. An event that educates, but that does not necessarily feel like a charity event or a school lecture…
We present a panel on inclusion and cultural activism, bringing together local and international community activists to share insights into their work, discuss principles of inclusion and diversity, and collectively develop perspectives for a subcultural industry in which people with disabilities are afforded with the same opportunities to develop an artistic career, just like people without disabilities. Our goals are to share information, transfer knowledge and exchange ideas.
MODERATION
Amy Zayed, born in 1975, works for ARD and the BBC (World Service, Radio 4, Radio 6 Music). She makes reports, mostly in the field of music and culture, and moderates a documentary series. She is probably the only blind journalist for pop culture in Europe at the moment.
SPEAKER 1 — Werner aka Bläck Dävil (artist)
Werner Soyeaux is headstrong, independent-minded, and special kind of guy that you won’t easily forget, either as a person or as an artist. His motto could be: to turn shit to gold.
Turning broken computers into working ones or discarded turntables into euros. Somehow, Werner keeps going, never standing still, making business deals with half the city to collect everything that he needs to make music. Since 2018 Werner has been part of the Ick mach Welle project and has begun performing live on stage. Anyone who has seen and heard Bläck Dävil live knows the unique energy he brings to the dance floor, be it behind a drum machine, a synthesizer or on the microphone. Bläck Dävil is the dervish who makes you laugh and dance. After his collaboration with the experimental musician MFX in 2020, he went on to collaborate with DJ Normal 4 in 2021 as part of the Warning Showcase at PopKultur Festival, with his first releases just being released on the Killekill label.

KRAKE FESTIVAL is a Berlin based festival for challenging electronic music, organized by the Killekill crew. Krake means octopus and the festival is organised in a comparable way: Over the coarse of a week it spreads across various locations. KRAKE is not about genres or hype, it’s about music, that dares to step off the beaten track, about surprising performances and a down-to-earth attitude, far off the mainstream.
